VUMC USERS
You will need an active VUNet ID to access the R9 environment. The R9 environment authenticates users through the University directory (VUDS). Please follow the steps below for gaining access to ACCRE.
1. If you already have an active VUNet ID, you should be able to login to the PI Dashboard to request access to join an existing ACCRE group or request a new group. If you do not have an active VUNet ID, please follow the steps on the VUMC dual ID page to request one. If you have a VUNet ID, but are unable to login to the PI Dashboard, your password may be expired. To update your VUNet ID password, follow the steps on the VUIT password reset page.
2. Using your VUNet ID and password, log into the PI Dashboard and request to join your primary group by submitting the form to join an existing group. Submitting the form will email the PI of your primary group to add your VUNet ID to the group.
Please note, once your PI approves the request and your VUNet ID is added to the group, you will be able to login to the R9 environment. See the SSH Access page for information on how to login to the R9 environment. Our automated system will generate an email with first time login instructions that will go to the email address assigned to your VUNet ID. You DO NOT need to set a separate ACCRE password for your VUNet ID. Simply login to the R9 environment with your VUNet ID and password once you have received the confirmation that your ACCRE user id is created.
If you were accessing the legacy C7 environment with your VUMC ID and ACCRE password
1. Open a helpdesk ticket with your by logging into the Helpdesk ticket with your VUNet ID. In the ticket, mention that you need adding your secondary groups and changing file ownership from your VUMC ID user account to your VUNet ID user account. If you are a PI of a group, note this on the ticket so ACCRE staff can update your PI record to your University VU Net ID. You will not be able to complete your renewal disclosure until your PI record is updated.
2. For group membership: ACCRE will will sync your VU Net ID secondary group membership to match your legacy VUMC ACCRE ID. The final step is to have the file ownership changed from your VUMC ID to your VUNet ID.
3. If you still need to access a custom gateway in C7 before it is migrated, request ACCRE to generate a C7 password for your VU Net ID.
4. Important information about your legacy VUMC ACCRE ID and file permissions. Changing ownership of your old home directory to your VUNet ID is only a temporary solution. We recommend moving or copying your files to your new home directory ASAP. The old home and nobackup user directories will eventually be archived when the C7 environment is no longer available.
